Beat The Gym is guided with a purpose: to create an actual active and inclusive community, where each one of you became a powerful voice and influence in the growth and direction of the brand.
As you know, Beat The Gym is not just another bootcamp; it is a source of motivation, inspiration, a catalyst for happiness, and a platform for experiences that allow our members to support each other through a close-knit community.
Since the founding of Beat The Gym in 2015, we have hosted more than 250 free classes and trained more than 600 people. Beat The Gym’s mission has and will always be the same: to make fitness available to the community with no barriers. We celebrate each and every member who joins and comes to a class. You are realizing the dream we always had for Beat The Gym. Yet, we realize Beat The Gym in its current form is not sustainable.
So here is what we are doing and why.
For the past two years we have been focused on nurturing this community assuming we’d figure out a business model as the company continued to scale. With our growth came regulation, permits, fees, insurance costs, and more expenses. As you can imagine, our business costs increased rapidly. Turns out the costs of using “free” public spaces were higher than we ever anticipated.
Beat The Gym is working to deliver on its promise to work with the best trainers to make our cities a more active place. We believe that everyone deserves an opportunity to #BeatTheGym and live an active lifestyle. Starting on 15 May 2017 our classes will have a small fee and give you the option to choose your price, everyone is welcome to come and train with us. #BeatTheGym, work with the best trainers, experience what the community has to offer, and pay as you feel on our website. Your contributions keep our classes running, and are Beat The Gym’s sole source of income.
Despite this change, I am confident in where Beat The Gym is headed. In the coming months, we have our sights set on opening new parks and working with more trainers. We believe we are in the right path to truly make the city our gym. Lastly, I want to sincerely thank you for everything you do to make Beat The Gym special. You give something important to this community every day, simply by bringing your unique energy and commitment to Beat The Gym. I am genuinely proud to be a part of this company and even more proud to be a member of this inspiring community.
